It's looking like a long foal watch this year with three weeks between Parfait and Feliz' due dates and we have been keeping a watchful eye on the girls for some time now. The evening/late night checks are so common even the dogs stopped checking with me. So much for loyalty.
Parfait R (Pablito x Petula d'Alloys)
Parfait is officially past due and other than uncomfortable she doesn't appear to be in a hurry to let go of her Landkonig baby! Parfait is the seasoned broodmare, confident, all knowing, kind of bossy and rather stoic. She does however love her treats and will stand for hours to be fussed over. Her mother was an imported Selle Frances mare and without a doubt a favorite of breeder Susan Worthington at Rainbow Equus Meadows. Susan held onto her as long as possible she's just that nice of a mare!
She was sired by the exceptional Hanoverian stallion Pablito son of my ultimate favorite Pablo (but don't worry we are privileged enough to have two Pablo daughters in our mare band!). Pablito has produced some stellar sport horses with an incredible balance of dressage and jump his babies are especially excelling in eventing but I have personally ridden some nice Pablito hunters.

Landkonig is one of my favorite stallions with a wonderful gentle disposition and good looks, his babies are the epitome of amateur friendly and professional quality a warmblood should be. And it doesn't hurt he passes down some chrome! Our Landkonig/Pablo colt last year was out of the ballpark with quality, looks and disposition, of course it had to be a colt!

Few things are more exciting than expecting a proven breeding. I was the mare attendant for Parfait's 2013 Lady Petula by Landkonig. Now 5 she is a well built 16.2hh and turbo on the power scale. She went under saddle easily and has lovely gaits. I would be honored to have an identical quality foal this year!
